DETROIT LAKES — There’s always a first time for everything. For 16-year-old Chase Birdwell, his experience in the Championship division of the 93rd Pine to Palm has been quite exciting.
The final qualifying round on Wednesday, Aug. 13, cut the Championship division to a field of 64, with match-play beginning on Thursday.
Birdwell entered the afternoon having shot a 2-under-par 69 the day before. When he sank his par putt on Hole 8, he finished with a 7-under-par 64, which tied the best round of the day and secured him his first-ever Pine to Palm Championship division medalist honor.
