Emergency crews responded Wednesday afternoon to a residential neighborhood in York County to rescue a person who fell into a trench, according to county 911 dispatchers.
York County’s live 911 webpage, which shows real-time emergency responses, showed dozens of units — including rescue units, fire police and paramedics — were sent to the area of Bahn Avenue and Southview Drive in New Salem Borough at 4:17 p.m.
At 4:28 p.m., additional emergency responders from Lancaster County were dispatched to York County. The incident was listed as “Rescue, Collapse, Confined Space, Trench.”
According to information relayed to county 911 dispatchers, the trench, located in the backyard of a home along the 3900 block of Bahn Avenue, is approximately 9 feet wide, 7 feet long and 8 feet deep.
