In 72½ seasons before the Gundy program really began to roll in 2008, Cowboy teams played in 747 games. In advance of 93 of those games — or only 12% of those games — Oklahoma State was ranked in the Associated Press’ national poll.

Since the midway mark of the 2008 season, Gundy-coached teams had an AP Top 25 ranking in 143 of 212 games (67%).

In 2008-09, there was a streak of 22 consecutive games in which Cowboy teams were ranked. There was a 24-game streak in 2010-11 and an 18-game streak in 2016-17.
