GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - Soon, the Amtrak Mardi Gras Service will be ready to board right here on the Coast.
While ticketing agents are typically the ones who greet passengers of the train service, Amtrak’s Marc Magliari says the digital age brings about a new volunteer position called station hosts.
Magliari says, “Most of our 500 places do not have a ticketing agent because most people are not buying their tickets anymore from a ticket agent. They’re using the app, they’re using the website, or they’re using the 800 number.”
Wednesday’s meeting was with city organizations from the train stop locations in Pascagoula, Biloxi, Gulfport, and Bay St. Louis.
The goal was to encourage those in our communities with knowledge on specific areas to sign up as a station host volunteer.
