San Francisco Supervisor Joel Engardio’s first strategy to fend off a recall was to prevent it from landing on the ballot.

It didn’t work. Ballots will land in voters’ mailboxes any day now, forcing Engardio and his supporters to tirelessly campaign against the effort to oust him — and campaign-finance reports submitted last week show he’s well-resourced to implement his game plan.

Engardio and his team are knocking on every door they can west of 19th Avenue in the Sunset and Parkside, which he has represented since winning election in 2022. Pro-Engardio ads interrupt seemingly every other YouTube video and Hulu show watched by San Franciscans, and he’s active on social media .
