HOUSTON — Instant reactions from the Red Sox ’ 4-1 loss to the Houston Astros at Daikin Park on Wednesday:

1) Boston dropped to 66-56. The Astros improved to 68-53. The Astros won the three-game series, 2-1. But Boston won the season series, 4-2.

2) Red Sox starter Walker Buehler settled in after he gave up two runs in the first inning. Jeremy Peña led off the bottom of the first with a 358-foot home run to left field. Buehler then allowed a pair of walks and an RBI single to Yainer Diaz.

He retired 15 out of the next 16 batters from the final out of the first inning through the second out of the sixth. With two down in the sixth inning, he walked Victor Caratini and gave up a two-run home run to Diaz, making it 4-1 Houston.
