SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The Illinois State Fair's annual Governor's Sale of Champions is known for auctioning off animals that have earned the title of Grand Champion, the highest honor for livestock exhibited in Illinois.

For the sixth consecutive year, Governor JB Pritzker and his wife, MK, bought the Grand Champion steer for $105,000.

The money will be donated to Feeding Illinois and distributed to food banks throughout the state.

The Sale of Champions also highlights the top youth livestock exhibitors, helping fund scholarships and future projects.
