MT. ZION, Ill. (WAND) - Mt. Zion football has high hopes of following-up their first ever trip to State with another successful season. This fall, their confidence relies on their strength in numbers.
"The nice thing is we have a lot of competition," says Braves Head Coach Patrick Etherton. "We have a lot of upperclassmen with a lot of kids competing in spots, kids who haven't played, and kids who have played a little bit who want to play more."
With a record number of players ready to don the Braves uniform, it's sparked an internal competition for limited spots on the field. As a result, the requirement to earn a spot in the lineup is all-out effort each day of practice.
