A landmark Lebanon drive-in diner that opened in the 1950s and still reflects the time-period is being assured it can keep its iconic neon signs that appeared threatened by a new city ordinance.

Snow White Drive is an “American Graffiti”-style restaurant on West Main Street that opened in 1953 and continues to be a destination where customers flash their headlights for outside service and order food.

The Lebanon City Council approved an ordinance in March to restrict a commercial establishment to no more than one neon or LED lighted sign in a window that faces the right-of-way or public.

The intent of the ordinance was to “clean up” some check-cashing, vape and convenience stores that were drawing complaints and not to impact Snow White, Lebanon Councilmember Tick Bryan said.
