FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- An adult and a child were taken to the hospital after the adult was hit by a car in northwest Fresno.

Police say the crash happened just after 9 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Ashcroft and Marks avenues.

Officers say the two were crossing the road when the collision occurred

Medical aid was given to the adult before they were taken to the hospital for further treatment. Their current condition is unknown.

The child was not hit and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries

The driver remained on scene and is cooperating.

Investigators say they were not in a crosswalk at the time of the crash.
