Monroe County Community College and ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital are gearing up for their next Sterile Processing Technician training program, set to begin Sept. 9, according to a community announcement.

The 12-week course is designed to prepare students for roles as sterile processing professionals in various healthcare settings. Participants will learn skills such as decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage and distribution of reusable surgical instruments and equipment.

Classes will be held from 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Clinical hours will take place at facilities in Southeast Michigan or Northwest Ohio, generally within a one-hour drive from Monroe.

The course costs $1,955 and is eligible for the Michigan Reconnect Short-Ter
