Merrie DeSisto was looking for a job. Instead she found a calling.

The longtime Barrington resident served as town clerk for more than a decade, coordinating the day-to-day operations of the office (helping residents with a variety of tasks, such as marriage licenses, birth certificates and plenty more), running the probate department, and also recording the written minutes for hundreds (maybe thousands) of hours of council meetings.

DeSisto retired last month, handing off town clerk duties to Stephanie Bernardo. DeSisto’s newfound free time will be focused on her grandchildren, reconnecting with friends, and traveling with her husband, Mike.
