MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — All lanes on Interstate-75 going northbound in Monroe County are closed due to a tractor-trailer fire, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT).

Their 511GA website notes that a tractor-trailer catching on fire has closed all northbound lanes on I-75 right before Highfalls Road and one mile south of Johnstonville Road.

GDOT said that the roads were initially closed sometime around 6:30 a.m. and that the roads aren't expected to reopen until 8 a.m.

As of right now, we've reached out to multiple Monroe County officials and the Georgia State Patrol for further details on how the tractor-trailer caught on fire, or if there were any injuries. We did not receive an immediate response.
