Tween and teen fashion accessories chain Claire’s has plunged into administration putting a Lanarkshire store at risk. ‌

More than 2000 jobs and 300 UK and Ireland stores - including East Kilbride's Centre West store - are now under threat of closure after the high street retailer’s US parent firm said it has filed a formal notice to administrators from advisory firm Interpath. ‌

In a statement on Wednesday evening, Interpath confirmed Will Wright and Chris Pole have been appointed joint administrators. ‌

That puts the future of 306 stores into doubt, 278 in the UK and 28 in Ireland.
