Fires were being tackled in Albania, Spain and Portugal as Europe's heatwave continued on Thursday.

A blaze, fuelled by high temperatures and strong winds, came close to properties in Aguiar da Beira in Portugal.

Firefighters also tackled wildfires in Spain's Asturias region, as well as in Delvine in Albania.

That happened as temperatures in some parts of Europe soar to 40 degrees Celsius (109.4 Fahrenheit).
