HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) - Hartford police confirmed that they closed a case that investigated a priest for stealing funds.
Police had been looking into allegations that Father Charles Jacobs from Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartford stole money from the church for personal use.
However, Lt. Aaron Boisvert from the Hartford Police Department told Channel 3 on Thursday morning that there was insufficient evidence.
Jacobs was placed on administration leave at the end of January.
The investigation struck a chord with parishioners who leapt to Jacobs’ defense.
Jacobs released a statement back in March in which he denied using church funds for personal use and that the money taken in by the church was used to help the poor, homeless, addicted, and those in need.
