WASHINGTON — As federal law enforcement agencies increase their presence across D.C., the American Civil Liberties Union of the District of Columbia is urging residents to remain calm, be prepared, and know their rights.
“We really think this is the time for people to be prepared,” said Monica Hopkins, executive director of ACLU of DC. “These are really unprecedented times, but your rights have not changed.”
The heightened federal presence comes amid growing concern from residents over a federal “surge” initiated by President Donald Trump, which has brought National Guard troops and various law enforcement agencies into neighborhoods.
