Students across Birmingham are celebrating their A-level results as record numbers have been offered places at university this year.

But, for some, this is particularly poignant as they are the first in their families to go into higher education.

At Ark St Alban’s Academy in Highgate, multiple students are making the landmark move away from home.

Nadia Duwane achieved an incredible four grades As and is set to study history at the University of Oxford.
