SOUTHBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — Just days before the one year anniversary of a major flood that caused damage and death across Naugatuck Valley, Connecticut Water officials say they've finished the last major repair.

On Thursday, the group said they recently brought a 12-inch water main on Old Field Road in Southbury back into service. Portions of the road had been washed away during the storm, requiring the town to restore the roadway itself.

Connecticut Water officials said while the system there continued to provide drinking water service to customers in the area, the main contributed to fire protection.

Officials said it was the last major repair related to the 1,000-year rainstorm that hit on Aug. 18 last year. • Connecticut Water
