Jazz sounds fill the woods
The 24th annual "Jazz in the Woods" featuring the Wilbur Rehmann Quintet was held Aug. 3 at Moose Creek Cabin near Rimini.
Rehmann's mellow saxophone and the dynamic vocals of M J Williams set the tone for the evening as the group performed numerous jazz classics, one observer said.
Williams blended traditional vocals with her easy transition to "scat" for several pieces, and the rhythm section of Fred Cobb on keyboard, Todd Silas on bass and Jeremy Slead on drums never missed a beat while showcasing their own individual solo talents, said Roger Reynolds, who attended the event.
Williams also swapped in her trombone for the full instrumental sounds, which permeated the air around Moose Creek Cabin.
