GAYLORD — The Health Department of Northwest Michigan has lifted the full body advisory for Otsego Lake State Park in Gaylord after recent water testing showed E. coli levels well below state thresholds.
According to an Aug. 14 news release, a sample taken on Wednesday measured 17.1 E. coli per 100 milliliters, far under the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy’s standard of 300 per 100 milliliters for advisories.
The beach, located at 7136 Old US Highway 27 South, is one of many monitored by the health department throughout the summer. Officials said E. coli levels can fluctuate based on factors such as wildlife activity and wave conditions.
When advisories are issued, additional testing is conducted and results are shared with the public. Reports are posted week
