TRAVERSE CITY — Cherry Capital Airport will conduct a full-scale emergency planning exercise on Aug. 20 in accordance with federal regulations.

The 2.5-hour simulation will begin at 9 a.m. on the airport’s airfield and will involve a simulated aircraft accident. Officials said the exercise will test existing plans for prevention, protection, mitigation, response and recovery.

The training will include the Pro-Tec Fire Department, Traverse City Fire Department, Traverse City Police Department, Grand Traverse Sheriff’s Office, Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department, Grand Traverse Emergency Management, Grand Traverse Central Dispatch, TSA, FAA, East Bay Ambulance and Munson Hospital.
