HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Prairie View A&M Cooperative Extension, Superior Health Plan, and Behavioral Health Solutions of South Texas will host its "Beat the Heat Family Event on Saturday.

This free event is from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Dr. Bose Community Center in Donna.

The event aims to educate families on hydration and safety, including pool safety and skin care. It will feature free swimming pools, water bottles, and resources, with support from Superior Health Plan's $10,000 grant.

Additional organizations, such as the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Protective and Regulatory Services, will provide hands-on activities.

The event is part of a larger initiative funded by a $200,000 grant across Texas, with future events planned for seniors.
