An anti-abortion campaigner who was “supported” by the Trump administration has been cleared over her silent protest.
Rose Docherty, 75, was arrested after police were called to reports of an anti-abortion protest near the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH), in Glasgow, in February. She had been holding a sign that read: “Coercion is a crime, here to talk, only if you want.”
In March 2024, Donald Trump, the US president, sent White House officials to meet British pro-life activists , including Ms Docherty, over concerns that their freedom of speech had been threatened.
After the visit, Ms Docherty said it was “heartening that others around the world, including the US government, have realised this injustice and voiced their support”.
