DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa’s unemployment rate is holding steady at 3.7% in July.

According to Iowa Workforce Development (IWD), the number of unemployed Iowans rose slightly from June to July, with 63,700 in June and 64,900 in July.

Iowa’s unemployment rate currently sits at 3.7%, which is 0.6% higher than Iowa’s unemployment rate last year (3.1%). However, Iowa’s unemployment rate is lower than the national rate, which increased to 4.2% in July.

IWD also reports that the total number of working Iowans has increased to 1,672,600 in July, with an additional 600 people joining the workforce since June. Iowa’s total number of workers is also up 11,000 compared to one year ago.
