PERRY COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM)-- The Shapiro Administration named Perry County's eighth bicentennial farm, and seven new century farms in Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding named the Metz family farm Perry County's eighth bicentennial farm at Penn State's Ag Progress Days.
According to the Shapiro Administration, Richard Metz Jr.'s newly designated bicentennial farm was deeded to Johann Metz in 1825 for $18. Richard Metz took ownership of the farm in 1996. Today, the 147-acre farm produces soybeans, corn, and hay.
