CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Officials released the name Thursday of the man shot and killed in broad daylight in the city’s West Boulevard neighborhood.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner said Deonte Alexander, 38, died around 1 p.m. Wednesday in the area of West 73rd Street and Clark Avenue.

Cleveland police later shot the murder suspect. His name has not been released.

Cleveland Police Chief Dorothy Todd said officers found Alexander dead on scene.

Just blocks away, Todd said officers tracked down a man possibly matching the suspect description.

Chief Todd said shots were fired when officers made contact with that man.
