The Lehigh Valley region has seen its first confirmed case of West Nile virus in 2025, St. Luke’s University Health Network reports.

The Morning Call earlier this week reported the case was in a Bucks County resident who became critically ill and was treated at St. Luke’s University Health Network in Fountain Hill.

St. Luke’s spokesman Sam Kennedy confirmed the case Thursday to lehighvalleylive.com: “The patient is recovering.”

Bucks, Lehigh and Northampton counties had no 2025 human cases of the mosquito-borne illness in the most recent West Nile report, dated Aug. 8, from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection .
