Kid Cudi ’s pursuit of happiness no longer includes Kanye West .

After the “Day N’ Nite” singer (real name Scott Mescudi ) confirmed that he fully cut off contact with his former mentor and collaborator in his new book, Cudi: The Memoir , he shared insight into why that was a decision he had to make.

“It’s a sad thing,” Cudi told CBS Mornings during an August 13 appearance promoting the memoir. “ It just will never happen again, you know? And that is the heartbreaking side of things. But hey, I had a lot of things in my life break my heart and I've been able to survive and move past it.”
