HOPEWELL, N.Y. (WROC) — One person is dead after a vehicle crash on 5 and 20 in the Town of Hopewell.

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as Benjamin Best, 32, of Oswego, NY.

Police received a call around 7 a.m. and responded to the scene near Mumby Road. News 8 was told the driver of the car, who was the only one inside, had died.

Investigators believe speed was a contributing factor in the crash, but the exact cause remains unknown at this time.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
