SYRACUSE. N.Y. (WSYR-TV)—Syracuse Police and the city are reporting a sharp drop in crime across the city, with significant declines in both violent and property crime compared to this time last year.

The latest Comparative Statistics (COMPSTAT) report, which tracks crime statistics week-to-week, shows overall crime is down 27.3% from 2024 levels.

Violent crime has fallen 18%, while property crime is down 29.2%. Compared to the city’s five-year average, overall crime is down 11.3%.

Gun-related incidents remain a concern for the department, but the numbers are moving in the right direction: • Shots fired: 216, down 22% from 277 in 2024 • Shootings with injury: 67, down 3% from 69 last year • Shooting victims injured/killed: 74, down 4% from 77
