WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WSYR) -- Families with Pre-Kindergarten students are worried about getting them into a classroom this upcoming 2025-2026 school year.
The Watertown City School District has decided to change how the Universal Pre-K program is administered, and some have expressed concern that when seats are selected on Friday, some students may be left out.
At a recent WCSD school board meeting, parents were worried about whether their children would secure a spot in a UBK. For years, community-based organizations have been the primary providers of Pre-K in Watertown. This year, the district rejected additional funding and launched its own UPK program, adding two district-run classrooms.
"Ultimately, they chose to fund $1.2 million plus, potentially, for two classrooms, run by the distr
