The first modern roads and homes in Cathedral City were built in 1925. The city is marking the anniversary this month.

Indigenous people, including the Agua Caliente tribe, have lived in what's now Cathedral City much longer.

Cathedral City is celebrating its 100th birthday this month.

The city wasn't incorporated until 1981, but developers built its first modern subdivision and named it Cathedral City in 1925, according to the city's website . There was a proclamation ceremony for the 100th anniversary at the city council's Aug. 13 meeting.
