MONTPELIER, Vt (ABC22/FOX44) - According to data from the Child Mind Institute, one in five kids are diagnosed with Dyslexia - a neuro-biological difference in the way someone learns and processes information.
In Montpelier, the Kellogg-Hubbard library has committed to removing barriers to literacy for neuro-diverse patrons through their Dyslexic Positive Library initiative.
Youth librarian Nicole Westbom says caregivers often come in wanting to help their neuro-divergent kiddos, but are unsure of where to start.
"They were looking to us as well as their literacy specialist in their school and teachers," she explains.
