Tulsa Public Schools’ board of education is being asked to consider a policy that would restrict the use of people as mascots or in school logos.

The draft agenda for Monday night’s TPS board of education meeting includes the first reading of a proposed new policy that would prohibit schools from using branding imagery that incorporates racial, ethnic, gender-based, religious or cultural stereotypes.

The proposed policy would also prohibit schools from changing their mascot to a person or incorporating human representation in their logos or branding elements in the future.
