CHICAGO (WGN) — Members from several government services are in Chicago to assess the damage from last month’s flood.
Thousands of homes across Chicago and Cook County were impacted by the heavy rains between July 25 and July 28.
Last week, Mayor Brandon Johnson and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle issued disaster proclamations to assist residents in recovery efforts.
“If any resident sustained damage from late-July storms and flooding, a quick in-person review of the level of damage is key to having the state of Illinois request federal disaster recovery assistance for those impacted,” a news release from the city’s Office of Emergency Management said.
