A Jackson Police Department official confirmed to the Clarion Ledger that a 10-year-old girl was kidnapped from a bus stop Thursday morning, Aug. 14, in Jackson.
Public Information Officer Tommie Brown said the female child was taken at approximately 7:22 a.m. from the bus stop near Fredrica Avenue and Saint Charles Street. The child's grandfather reported the incident, Brown said.
Brown identified the suspect as 28-year-old Dessan Riley, the noncustodial mother of the child, who is believed to reside in Louisiana. Brown said police have video footage showing Riley taking the child from the specified location.
As of this publication, authorities are actively searching for Riley.
