Walmart has expanded its discount program for employees, offering employees discounts on all groceries year-round versus discounts on specific items during the holiday season.
In a memo the company sent out to associates on Aug. 13, the company said the change means employees get 10% off all food categories — including dairy, frozen, dry grocery, meat and seafood — as well as general merchandise and fashion.
“With this update, the associate discount now covers 95% of regularly priced items across the store,” the company said in the memo obtained by USA TODAY via email.
Walmart’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Kieran Shanahan said in a video shared to LinkedIn that the company has listened to employees.
