A Maine father is facing multiple charges for allegedly assaulting his 7-month-old child earlier this month.

On the night of Aug. 7, police in Dexter received a report of the suspected abuse of a 7-month-old infant. The child was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Dexter police then requested the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit to head up the investigation, in partnership with the state Department of Health and Human Services.

On Wednesday, the child's father, 23-year-old Kolby Drake, of Dexter, was arrested on a warrant for charges including aggravated assault, assault and domestic violence assault. He was booked at the Penobscot County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court later this week.
