LEWISTON, Wis. (WKOW) -- The man accused of leaving a crash scene where his passenger died entered a plea agreement in court on Wednesday.

Keegin Neveln pleaded no contest to hit and run causing death in a May 2024 crash. A judge accepted his plea and found him guilty. Prosecutors dropped two other pending felonies against Neveln as part of the agreement.

A criminal complaint stated Neveln, 27, of Portage, crashed into a tree on Malisch Road in the town of Lewiston. He called 911 after the crash and admitted to being the driver but refused to stay at the scene.

Neveln told his father that he ran because "he didn't know whether [the woman] was going to live or not."

A woman, who authorities identified as Kayla Mcclenithan , 21, was found unresponsive. She was later pronounced dead.
