Ky. man accused of trying to hit police officers with car

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - A Kentucky man is facing several charges after allegedly trying to hit two police officers with his car.

Kenny Frye was arrested on KY 223 around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

In an arrest citation, the Barbourville Sheriff’s Office says two officers were at a safety checkpoint on KY 3439 when they flashed their lights at a car, later identified as Frye’s, to try to get it to slow down.

Then, police say the Frye accelerated toward the pair of officers, forcing them to jump out of the way to avoid being hit by his car.

Officers chased his car onto US 25, where chase speeds hit up to 112 mph before the car finally crashed on KY 223.

After a brief chase on foot, Frye was arrested.
