BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — An inmate who was housed in the West Baton Rouge Parish Jail died after suffering a medical emergency on Wednesday, Aug. 13.
According to the West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, the inmate was identified as 30-year-old Jeremy Paul of Baton Rouge. Paul had been in WBRSO custody since September 2024 and was being housed for the Louisiana Department of Corrections.
Sheriff Jeff Bergeron confirmed West Baton Rouge Parish correctional deputies found three inmates inside a dorm suffering from a medical emergency around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Two of the inmates were responsive and were able to recover. One of the inmates, later identified as Paul, remained unresponsive.
