BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center is inviting the community to its first-ever Barbershop Bash, which aims to raise awareness about the risks of prostate and colorectal cancer.

The Barbershop Bash is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 23, at Webb’s Barbershop, 401 Eddie Robinson Sr. Drive.

“We encourage everyone to come out and take advantage of these life-saving cancer screenings. We know that early detection is so important when it comes to treating cancer and improving health outcomes. This event could literally save your life," Renea Duffin, vice president of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, said.
