BELTON — During a brief hearing this week, an ex-city of Killeen councilman firmly rejected a plea bargain offer from the Bell County Attorney’s Office and therefore will have two misdemeanor charges resolved by a jury.
Last year, Jonathan Okray, 59, was charged with harassment of a 911 operator by making an abusive call, which is a Class B misdemeanor, and discharging a firearm within city limits, which is a Class A misdemeanor. Both incidents are alleged to have occurred in December of 2023.

Judge John Mischtian, who presides over Bell County’s Court-at-Law #2, left the bench during the Wednesday afternoon hearing, which was a routine matter of putting a plea bargain offer into the court reporter’s record.
