The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the southwest portion of Missouri, set to take effect at noon on Friday and lasting through Monday evening.
Given the pattern, we will be facing some of the hottest temperatures of the year so far.
Highs are expected to climb into the upper 90s, with a few spots potentially touching or even surpassing the 100-degree mark.
Summer humidity will push our heat index values easily into the triple digits throughout this stretch. Most areas will experience feel-like temperatures ranging from 100 to 106 degrees over the next several days.
Limit outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day, stay hydrated, and check on elderly or vulnerable neighbors.
