NEWPORT, R.I. (WPRI) — Two people were charged in connection with an alleged road rage incident in Newport on Monday night.

Police said a group of four motorcyclists surrounded a driver on Thames Street near America’s Cup Avenue around 9:45 p.m., revving their engines and damaging the victim's car before fleeing.

Officers stopped one rider, collected evidence, and turned the case over to a traffic investigator.

Two suspects, a 20-year-old from Portsmouth and a 19-year-old from Westport, later turned themselves in and were charged with disorderly conduct, according to police. One of them also faces motor vehicle violations.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be filed as police search for the other two riders.
