A Falmouth police sergeant held a man at gunpoint after he smashed the window of an apartment building with a baseball bat, before he threw a television at a person and attacked two people, Falmouth police said Thursday.

Barry Lopes, 44, of Falmouth, faces the charges of home invasion, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, threat to commit a crime and malicious destruction of property. His arraignment was scheduled to be held at Falmouth District Court.

At around 5:12 a.m. on Wednesday, the department received several 911 calls about a disturbance at Rose Morin Apartments, police said in a statement . The calls said that a man with a bat tried to get inside.
