After years of work, multiple rounds of public consultation and extensive staff input, Fort Erie council has adopted a new official plan that will guide the town’s growth and development for decades to come.
Mayor Wayne Redekop described the new plan as “the most important policy document that a local municipality can engage in,” explaining it directs the formation of the community for decades to come.
The report presented to council led to much discussion from council members prior to its adoption.
Ward 2 Coun. Nick Dubanow spoke to the years-long effort behind the document.
“This has been a long, drawn-out effort,” he said, adding he was “looking forward to this moving forward.”
