PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- The Peoria City/County Health Department is shutting down a rumor circulating about a local Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen.

The rumor was related to the Popeyes located at 1800 N. Knoxville Ave., according to a Facebook post by the health department.

It included a screenshot of the original post that claimed the "Popeyes on Knoxville had inspection and they found a rat and two mice in the grease."

The health department said they have not conducted an inspection on that specific Popeyes, nor did they recently close the establishment.

The Knoxville Popeyes is temporarily closed, according to the official Popeyes website, but the reason for its closure is unconfirmed.

WMBD reached out to the local Popeyes and the corporate office, but we have not received a response.
