Two Southern California Lottery scratcher players each raked in big wins, with the biggest prize being $5 million, according to the California Lottery.
Max Lopez bought his Monopoly Scratchers ticket at the JK Gas & Mini Market on 950 North Avalon Blvd. in the Wilmington area near Long Beach. His $20 investment turned into a $5 million return.
"I saw there was a big winner and thought, ‘That’s cool,’" he said in a news release, recalling when he was checking the California Lottery app. "Then it hit me, it was me!"
Lopez told the California Lottery that he has been buying scratchers from that store for years and was part of his routine.
